Langer, Grogan & Diver accepts commercial litigation cases, primarily involving antitrust and contract issues, on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. It generally does not accept cases involving bodily injury. Cases are taken on an hourly, contingent-fee or, most often, on a mixed hourly/contingent-fee basis. The firm only accepts cases in which it believes its particular skills can be brought to bear on behalf of the client.

Cases are evaluated on the basis of their size and potential damages as well as the factual and legal bases of the claims. The firm prides itself on prosecuting cases presenting sympathetic factual scenarios but involving very difficult issues of law. It often is retained by other firms to assist them in the prosecution or defense of complex cases involving difficult issues of law and procedure. It is known for the high quality of its legal arguments both in its briefs and in court.

In prosecuting and defending cases on an hourly basis, the client has the benefit of a small, concentrated team effort, which, because of the firm’s small size, involves little or no pyramiding of hours. The firm’s attorneys are accustomed to prosecuting claims on a contingent fee basis where there is no incentive to duplicate effort within the firm. The highly efficient methods employed by the firm were recognized and described by the court in In re Linerboard Antitrust Litigation, 2004 WL 1221350 (E.D. Pa. 2004), which concluded that “through effective management petitioners held down the number of hours and other resources required to effectively prosecute the case. Fewer hours of attorney time were expended in this case than in comparable litigation.”
