Langer, Grogan & Diver partner Peter Leckman has been elected as one of 45 new members to The American Law Institute (ALI). Peter joins other Langer, Grogan & Diver lawyers who are members of the ALI including Howard Langer, John J. Grogan, and Ned Diver. Peter’s work at Langer, Grogan & Diver focuses on antitrust and consumer class actions, and appellate work.

“One of the most exciting aspects of being President of the ALI is meeting some of today’s most important and inspiring legal minds as they are elected into The American Law Institute,” said ALI President Roberta Cooper Ramo. “I look forward to having the opportunity to work alongside these new members in continuing the ALI’s efforts in clarifying the law.”

Most recently, Peter, together with Howard Langer and Ned Diver, served as lead counsel in a pair of lawsuits challenging the broadcast practices of the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball. The settlement of these cases changed the sports broadcasting landscape, lowering prices and increasing options for consumers. For their work, Ned, Howard, and Peter were honored at the American Antitrust Institute’s 2016 Antitrust Enforcement Awards, receiving an award for “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice.”

The American Law Institute is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law. The ALI drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, model statutes, and principles of law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education.

By participating in the Institute’s work, Peter will have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to work with other prominent lawyers, judges, and academics, and to contribute to the public good.
