June 27, 2024 – Following a four-week trial, a federal jury has delivered a resounding verdict against the NFL and the NFL teams. The jury found that the NFL teams’ decision to limit the output of their telecasts was anticompetitive and determined that consumers suffered $4.7 billion in overcharges as a result.
The lawsuit was originally filed in 2015, and LGD was selected by the Court to serve as co-lead counsel along with Susman Godfrey LLP and Hausfeld. Together, Plaintiffs’ counsel represent over 2.4 million residential subscribers and more than 48,000 commercial establishments. The jury agreed with plaintiffs’ contentions that the League’s media agreements artificially inflated prices and limited consumer choices.
The jury’s verdict requires the NFL to pay $4.6 billion in damages to residential class members and $96 million to commercial class members. LGD is pleased with the result on behalf of the classes they represented.
